John Lewis fans praise £31 dress you can 'wear for any occasion'

John Lewis shoppers are clearly impressed with a £31 dress that is "super comfy" and can be "dressed up or down".

The UK retailer is known for its clothes, as well as homeware products, technology devices and more. As well as selling items from a wide variety of brands and designers, John Lewis also has its own ranges, including its ANYDAY brand which is said to have "style, sustainably and affordability" at its heart.

One garment is amassing rave reviews online with an overall rating of five stars. Happy customers say the John Lewis ANYDAY Textured Midi Smock Dress is "versatile" and "very flattering".

John Lewis describes the dress as a "true wardrobe staple". It has a tiered shape in a soft, textured finish, with a slightly ruffled hem. At the back there is a keyhole opening with self tie bow accent.

One reviewer said: "Gorgeous dress, lovely weight making it hang nicely. Received several comments already. Delighted. Sizing good, I'm 5'5" it comes mid calf on me. Great with pumps". A second said: "Relaxed fit, good price, super comfy. Very happy with this dress".

A third said: "Bought for my daughter, she loved the design of the dress and materials used. Would suit all types of occasions and would be able to dress it up or down". A fourth added: "Am super happy with this dress - can be dressed up/down and as it is a thick cotton, it is great for warmer spring and cooler summer days. Very flattering!"

Other retailers are selling similar black tiered midi dresses. ASOS has one by Wednesday's Girl for £26, while Next currently has a black polka dot midi dress by Finery on sale for £39.
