John Bennett admits 'valid' Rangers criticism as he makes 'let's fix that' communication fan vow

John Bennett admits Rangers have come in for some 'valid' criticism as he vowed to fix communication issues with fans.

The deputy chairman has opened up in a Rangers TV interview and says as a part owner of the club they NEVER will take the fans for granted. He says the loyal fanbase are the lifeblood of the club and they own it, as he spoke as part of a 17 minute interview.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men qualified for the Champions League after safely navigating two rounds of qualifying against Union Saint-Gilloise and PSV. They landed a tough section alongside Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax and have so far lost two out of two conceding seven goals without reply. They've also made a stuttering start to the Premiership with performances not to the high standards expected by fans.

Celtic hammered the Light Blues 4-0 in the first Old Firm derby of the season to fall five points behind the champions. However, a shock defeat for Ange Postecoglou's men at St Mirren has brought that back down to two points ahead of the international break.

Fans were left frustrated over issues such as transfer business with many believing further recruits would arrive after landing the lucrative prize windfall of reaching Europe's top table.

Bennett is aware of the concerns and says the Ibrox board are ready to do better. He told Rangers TV: "We must accept there will always be challenges, challenged by our own support and rightly so, rightly so. They are the lifeblood, that's who really owns this club.

"I don't know about you, I was very struck by English Premier League fans and their reaction in certain clubs to that whole Super League stuff. That told the owners of those clubs who really owns the club. I'm a part owner of Rangers but I'm every bit as much an owner of Rangers as a fan, a supporter, as I am somebody who happens to own some shares. Never will we take them for granted.

"That's why I'm annoyed at some valid, valid criticism, observations, that our communication with our fans hasn't been good enough recently. Let's fix that. They own the club, they're the lifeblood. It's not just a phrase, they own the club."
