Jofra Archer says he has never given thought to the idea of giving up Test cricket, despite his long-term injury struggles.
Archer returned to England white-ball action earlier this year, after a 22-month international lay-off due to back and elbow problems, but has not played for the Test side since the tour to India in February 2021.
The quick remains hopeful of playing some part in this summer’s Ashes series, but plans to up his workloads at the ongoing Indian Premier League have been partly scuppered by elbow discomfort, which saw him miss four games for Mumbai Indians earlier this month. However, the 28-year-old poured cold water on the idea of becoming a limited-overs specialist.
"I still want to play as much red-ball [cricket] as possible," he told ESPN. "I’ve never really had a thought of trying to give up on any of the formats as yet.
"Let me get through this year and see how the body’s feeling, but I don’t plan to give up any of the three. I may have to manage my workloads for at least a year, and that’s absolutely fine with me. But I want to make the most of all the cricket that is available to me."
