Joey Votto might just be the most interesting man in baseball. His latest endeavor should only reinforce that reputation.
The Reds first baseman will provide the voice for the French narrator in a stage production of The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition. The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s production will run from Oct. 14-23 at Taft Theatre.
Cincinnati is currently battling for the National League’s third wild-card playoff spot, sitting a half game behind the Cubs and Marlins. If the Reds make it to the postseason, the wild-card round begins Oct. 3.

Reds fans concerned that Votto’s acting obligations could interfere with a postseason run can relax. The SpongeBob Musical’s theatrical run does take place at the same time as the NL championship series, for optimistic Cincinnati fans. However, Votto will not perform in person. His narration will run as a recording during the play.
