Joe Lycett swears audiences to secrecy over tour 'stunt' as police called

Joe Lycett has sworn fans to secrecy over a stunt that led yo him 'getting into trouble' with the police.

Last month, the former Great British Sewing Bee presenter took to Twitter to reveal that an audience member who'd come to see him on his More More: How Do You Lycett tour, was so offended by something he talked about in the show that they called police which led to him, in turn, being investigated by cops.

Joe explained: "To be fair to them, the fuzz were very nice about it all but felt they had a duty to investigate. This involved me writing a statement explaining the context of the joke for them; I particularly enjoyed putting the words 'giant donkey d**k,' into a message to a police detective.

"Charmed, and hopefully amused, the rozzers have since closed the matter. You'll be pleased to know that the joke - which I consider to be one of the best I've written written - remains firmly and proudly in the show."

News of that incident made headlines across the country but, appearing on Tuesday's Lorraine, Joe told stand-in host Ranvir Singh that there is something even more shocking from the tour that has yet to be disclosed, as fans have so far kept schtum.

Putting him on the spot, Ranvir said: "In February you said that on this tour, you're going to explain how Strictly, police phone calls, other things...and you did an elaborate stunt that took years and were going to reveal what it was during the tour. But you haven't been found out."

He replied: "I asked the audience not to tell after the show and they've been really...they haven't told, none of the reviews have mentioned it."

Joe then added: "It's not the sort of thing I can explain very quickly anyway. It's quite an elaborate thing and I did it completely in secret. And as you say, I got in trouble with the police, there were headlines around the world, there was a giant unicorn, drag queens...it got out of hand.

"What I had planned to do became much bigger and kind of more beautiful than I ever expected."
