The Cleveland Browns and quarterback Joe Flacco agreed today on a contract as he has officially joined the 53-man roster after two starts as an elevation from the practice squad. Flacco will make $75,000 per game the rest of the way out as the starting quarterback of the Browns, but his contract contains other financial incentives that could make Flacco an even richer man if the Browns make a deep playoff run with him at the helm.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Flacco will receive a bonus for each round of the playoffs the Browns reach. Currently sitting with the fifth seed in the AFC, the Browns hold an 81 percent chance to lock down a playoff berth. This would be their first appearance since the 2020 season.
If the Browns win in the wild-card round, the 38-year-old quarterback will see a bonus of $250,000. For a divisional-round win, Flacco will get another $500,000 in incentives. Winning the AFC will get Flacco an additional $1 million, and a Super Bowl championship will see the veteran net an additional $2 million.
With a top-tier defense, and despite the injuries that have mounted, the Browns will look to continue their magical season. That starts this weekend against the Chicago Bears, and if it continues, Flacco will see a direct benefit.
Joe Flacco’s new one-year deal with the Ravens includes $4.05 million of incentives based on winning, per a source familiar with the deal.
Flacco will make $75,000 for each of the remaining four regular-season games he wins this season.
