MELBOURNE: There were so many golden yellow shirts floating around the 1573 Arena that it looked like a sea of yellow. Every now and then when Joao Fonseca unleashed a winner the Brazilian fans would erupt into their tune of the evening -- Fon-Saaayyyy-Ca, Fon-Saaayyyy-Ca, Fon-Saaayyyy-Ca… It was a call, a cry, a prayer that resounded across Melbourne Park.

They finally had a player, some 24-years after Gustavo Kuerten won the last of his three major titles.
