Joao Felix has already told Chelsea where he wants to play as Todd Boehly 'agrees transfer'

Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has already revealed where his best position is - as Chelsea close in on a loan move for the Portugal international.

Despite spending £270million in the summer, Chelsea sit in a lowly 10th in the Premier League- ten points behind fourth-placed Manchester United and 19 points behind league leaders Arsenal. It is not the campaign they had planned at all and co-owner Todd Boehly is prepared to continue to back Graham Potter in the transfer market,

According to to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Blues have a verbal agreement in place to sign Felix on a loan deal lasting until the end of the season. Football.london understands that a deal has not been finalised yet but Felix is a player Chelsea are intent on signing this month.

The loan will cost Chelsea round £10million with Felix having fallen out of favour at Atletico. The La Liga side paid an incredible £113million for Felix in 2019 when they signed him from Benfica.

Felix would bolster Potter's attacking line and the 23-year-old has already explained which position he believes to be his best.

"My best position is as the second forward," said Felix, speaking to The Athletic earlier this year. "Playing like a No.10, with a guy in front of me."

With Kai Havertz and Mason Mount both failing to impress consistently so far this season, the arrival of Felix could see him slot in behind the striker in Chelsea's plans. The Blues have lost six of their last nine games in all competitions with Boehly hoping the January arrivals of David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile and potentially Felix providing fresh impetus into a stuttering campaign.
