With Jio Platforms seeking a Rs 10 lakh crore valuation in its IPO, analysts are divided over whether investors would be better off subscribing to the issue or buying shares of parent Reliance Industries. While some see greater value in RIL, given the discount on its Jio holding and its other businesses, others favour the telecom company for direct exposure to India's growing digital economy.
At the upper end of its IPO price band of Rs 1,119, Jio Platforms is valued at Rs 10.3 lakh crore. Reliance Industries, which holds 66.43% of Jio before the offering, is expected to retain about 64.5% after the issue, giving its stake a market value of Rs 6.64 lakh crore.
