Jimmy Kimmel names the one joke that he regrets apologising for

  • Jimmy Kimmel expressed regret over an apology he made in 2013 for a segment where a child suggested killing “everyone in China” to solve the national debt, stating he did so under duress for Disney's benefit.
  • Kimmel has also apologised for blackface impressions of Oprah Winfrey and Karl Malone from the 1990s, but views apologies not as a defeat but as a fundamental aspect of Catholicism.
  • Last September, Kimmel faced a week-long suspension from ABC following controversial comments he made regarding the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, leading him to assert he cannot host if micromanaged.
  • The late-night host recently drew criticism from Donald Trump for a joke about Melania Trump having the “glow of an expectant widow” before an attempted shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
  • Kimmel clarified that his joke about Melania Trump was misinterpreted, explaining it was a reference to the age difference between her and Donald Trump, not a call to violence, and Disney only required him to respond and move on.
