Jimmy Kimmel Advocates For Jo Koy To Host Golden Globes

Jimmy Kimmel looking good

Jimmy Kimmel has expressed his support for Jo Koy to be given another opportunity to host the Golden Globes following the backlash he faced for his performance earlier this year. Koy's opening monologue and jokes about nominated celebrities during the awards show in January received criticism for being cringeworthy and controversial.

Kimmel, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, highlighted that Koy, being relatively new to hosting such high-profile events, may have faced challenges that more seasoned hosts would not have encountered. He suggested that Koy could learn from his previous experience and deliver a better performance if given a second chance.

During the Golden Globes, Koy's jokes, including jabs at stars like Taylor Swift and Margot Robbie, did not land well with the audience. Swift's reaction to one of the quips was visibly unimpressed, indicating the discomfort caused by the humor.

Despite the criticism, Melissa Rivers came to Koy's defense, emphasizing the limited time he had to prepare for the hosting gig and the unfamiliarity of his comedic style to many in the audience. Rivers suggested that the lack of laughter may have been more due to the audience's disposition rather than the quality of Koy's material.

Kimmel proposed that allowing Koy to host the Golden Globes again could be a positive move, considering the lessons learned from his initial stint and his comedic talent. He believes that giving Koy a second chance could lead to a more enjoyable experience for both the host and the audience.
