Jimmy Johnson Says He’s Back in Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones’s Good Graces

Longtime Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former coach Jimmy Johnson finally buried the hatchet this past season when Johnson was inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor. And now, after almost 30 years, it appears that Johnson has taken his place within Jones’s inner circle.

Just how serious he is about it, though, is up for debate.

“Since the Ring of Honor, I am on his [Jerry Jones's] advisory board now,” Johnson said, possibly with a hint of sarcasm, on WQAM 560 AM in Miami, per the Cowboys team site

Johnson said the line with a chuckle but added that the two are back to talking football.

“We were talking on the phone about an hour after his Green Bay loss, and he was talking about what all he needed to do because he had big decisions on Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn and Dak Prescott,” Johnson continued. “Everything is hunky dory now. I am back in the fold with the Cowboys.”

Johnson was referring to the Cowboys’ embarrassing 48–32 wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers in January. How involved Johnson is within the Cowboys probably will never come to light, but at the very least, there’s finally no more bad blood between the two Hall of Famers.
