It was May 29, 2022 when the Miami Heat lost to the Boston Celtics in a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals.
And it was then that Jimmy Butler, speaking with reporters after the loss, uttered this: “Next year, we will have enough, and we’re gonna be right back in this same situation and we’re gonna get it done.”
One year later TO THE DAY, you know what happened by now: Butler and the Heat came into Boston in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals — the same situation!!! — and they got it done, with Butler winning ECF MVP.
This is so wild:
“Next year, we WILL have enough, and we're gonna be RIGHT BACK in this same situation and we're gonna get it DONE."
— Jimmy Butler after the Heat’s Game 7 loss to the Celtics in the ECF last year.
