Jimmie Johnson and his Legacy Motor Club race team have welcomed Creed to NASCAR with open arms. The multi-platinum rock band presented Johnson with an autographed guitar, which he jokingly admitted he would need lessons to play. With Creed on board, Johnson secured a spot in the Daytona 500 after a three-wide move in the final turn of Thursday night's qualifying race. Legacy Motor Club reached an associate sponsorship deal with the band, allowing Creed to feature on the No. 84 Toyota for Sunday's race. The car is adorned with Creed decals, and the band's music is played on the 'Creed Tour In-Car' cameras inside the vehicle. Johnson's connections in the music industry, including Gibson guitars and Live Nation, were instrumental in securing a sponsorship deal with rock band Guns N' Roses last season. Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti expressed confidence that the band's presence on the car would bring better results than the previous season. Creed, known for their hits 'Higher' and 'My Sacrifice,' was one of the most successful rock acts of the 1990s, selling over 40 million albums. They won a Grammy for best rock song in 2001. The band last toured together in 2012 but is set to embark on their 'Summer of '99' tour starting in July. The band's stop at Daytona marks their return to a NASCAR event since the 2010 All-Star race. Alongside Creed, the Daytona 500 will feature other celebrities, including honorary pace car driver Miss America 2024 Madison Marsh, honorary starter DJ Khaled, and grand marshal Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Pitbull is also scheduled to perform before the race. Creed's guitarist Tremonti mentioned that the band's music resonates with fans who want to relive the nostalgia of the 1990s rock era. Overall, Creed's presence at the Daytona 500 adds to the excitement and star power of the event, as fans eagerly anticipate the race and the band's upcoming tour.
