US First Lady Dr Jill Biden and her granddaughter Finnegan Biden wore matching blue and yellow dresses to King Charles III's coronation ceremony, in a display of solidarity with Ukraine.
Seated next to Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska, the two women showed their support for the invaded country where Russia has waged war for over a year.
Dr Biden wore a pale blue outfit with a matching bow in her hair. She and Finnegan Biden made a powerful statement as they walked into the abbey in their coordinated attire.
The blue and yellow colours of the dresses were a clear nod to the Ukrainian flag, and the choice of attire was widely praised on social media.
Ukrainian news outlet Kyiv Post posted pictures of the two women in their complementary outfits on Twitter.
They were captioned: "First Lady of the United States Jill #Biden with her granddaughter Finnegan Biden showed support and solidarity for #Ukraine with the colors of their outfits at the coronation ceremony of King #CharlesIII."
The war in Ukraine has so far cost the lives of at least 63,000 people, with over 15,000 more missing and approximately 14 million people having been displaced.
King Charles III was crowned in a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey earlier today, and the event was watched by millions of people around the world.
The coronation ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries from around the world, including leaders from Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, also attended the ceremony.
Jill Biden tweeted earlier today mentioning the special relationship between the US and the UK and expressed her honour in representing her country on this historic day at Westminster Abbey.
Her tweet was a quote of President Biden's tweet where he congratulated King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their coronation.
He also acknowledged the enduring friendship between the US and the UK and expressed his pride in the First Lady representing the United States for this momentous occasion.
In an earlier tweet, the First Lady appeared standing next to the Princess of Wales and the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
During her stay in the UK, Jill Biden met with Akshata Murty, the wife of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, at No. 10 Downing Street and also met with military veterans and their families participating in a health and wellness program.
She also visited Charles Dickens Primary School and the US Embassy before attending a reception hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.
After representing the United States at the coronation at Westminster Abbey she is expected to attend a reception hosted by US Ambassador Jane Hartley.
On Sunday, Jill Biden will mingle at a luncheon hosted by Rishi Sunak and his wife at their Downing Street residence before her flight back to Washington.
