R&B singer-songwriter Jewell Caples has died aged 54, rapper Daz Dillinger announced today.
The Hip Hop star signed with legendary label Death Row Records in 1992 and worked with the likes of Dr Dre and N.W.A.
Sharing the sad news on Instagram alongside a photo of them both together, Daz wrote: "RIP REST N PEACE. IM SAD THIS REALLY HURT BUT JEWELLZ PASSED THIS MORNING.
"WOW DEATHROW FOR LIFE. WE GONE MISS HER.
"CLASSIC MUSIC. FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING."
There has not yet been an official statement from Jewell's family regarding her death.
Fans flocked to Twitter to pay tribute to Jewell, with one writing: "Jewell Caples @deathrowmusic First Lady RIP Thk you for your contribution 2 the culture with those amazing vocals on them @drdre beats. You are one of those beautiful black soulish pioneer voices that paved the way."
