After reports on Tuesday that the Jets sent a coalition out to California in order to meet with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Among those joining owner Woody Johnson on his private jet were head coach Robert Saleh, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and general manager Joe Douglas.
While the brass did the in-person work with Rodgers, several of New York’s players took to social media in an attempt to recruit the 39-year-old QB to the team themselves.
Sauce Gardner was the first to shoot his shot with Rodgers, before a handful of other players, including Breece Hall, Quinnen Williams, and Pro Bowl special teams standout Justin Hardee Sr. joined in with their own recruiting pitches.
Jets players aren’t exactly hiding their true feelings on former No. 2 draft pick Zach Wilson at this point, publicly advocating for the four-time MVP to make the move from Green Bay to New York.
With Rodgers facing an uncertain future with the Packers, the veteran quarterback has been linked with the Jets. Following his recent visit with some of the organization’s brass, players are becoming more vocal about their desire to see the 10-time Pro Bowler in a Jets uniform.
It’s clear adding Rodgers to the equation in New York would be a popular move among a number of players on the squad. Hall and Gardner made some noise with their social media posts on Tuesday, and Williams and Hardee added fuel to the fire on Wednesday.
