The NFL recently released their Top 100 list as voted on by the players and the Jets landed two players — defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner — in the top 40.
The folks at Sports Illustrated think even higher if the Jets star pair. Not only do they both rank in the top 40, they both rank in the top 20. In fact, one even reached the top five.
The top 100 list, compiled by Matt Verderame and Gilberto Manzano, ranked Williams at No. 20 and Gardner all the way at No. 5. By comparison, on the NFL Players list, Williams was No. 40 and Gardner was No. 23.
Gardner also was ranked as the second-best defensive player, period. Only No. 4 Nick Bosa ranked higher among defenders. The top three were Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
This is yet another example of the incredible young talent the Jets have that helped push them to go all-in this season with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Two top 20 players, both aged 25 or younger, is quite the accomplishment for the Jets.
