Actor Jesse Williams, known for his role in 'Grey's Anatomy,' is set to star in Prime Video's upcoming Italian original series 'Costiera,' which is set against the stunning backdrop of Italy's Amalfi Coast. The show is a high-end English-language action-drama with comedic elements, directed by Emmy winner Adam Bernstein.
The series is currently being filmed on location and follows the story of Daniel De Luca, an Italian-American former Marine portrayed by Williams. De Luca is a problem solver at one of the world's most exclusive hotels in Positano. The character is a guest of the hotel's owner due to his unique ability to identify a potential kidnapper who may have taken his daughter. Throughout the series, De Luca tackles various cases in each episode.
'Costiera' is a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and Lux Vide, an Italian production company owned by Fremantle. The show is being produced by Luca Bernabei, known for his work on global hits like 'Medici' and 'Devils.' Williams will not only star in the series but also serve as a producer.
Under an innovative distribution agreement, Fremantle will handle global sales for 'Costiera' in all territories except Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal, where Amazon retains exclusive rights. The show's concept was developed by Bernabei and is written by Elena Bucaccio, Matthew Parkhill, and Francesco Arlanch, with Bucaccio and Arlanch leading the in-house development at Lux.
Director Adam Bernstein expressed his excitement about working with Jesse Williams, praising the actor's talent and suitability for the role of Daniel De Luca. Bernstein highlighted Williams' intelligence, charisma, and humor as key attributes that make him a perfect fit for the show.
