Jesse Marsch signed a deal running up until June 2025 when he was appointed as the replacement of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United. However, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has claimed that the American won't be at Leeds in 'two or three years' time.
Despite MacAnthony's assertion that Leeds will be 'fine' when it comes to Premier League survival this season, he stated on his podcast that Leeds' new manager wouldn't be given the time that Marcelo Bielsa was afforded when results began to go badly this season. Discussing Leeds' recent uptick in results, the Irish businessman said:
"I knew Leeds would come good. I said this. Too many good players, too many players that were injured," MacAnthony said on his podcast.

"As we found out at Peterborough, when you have key players injured you can’t do the business consistently or at all. I think they’ll be ok. Coming from 2-0 down and winning against Wolves, that was big. I think the win the week before was in the last minute as well, so some big results have gone their way recently.
"It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the summer. Do I see him [Marsch] being at Leeds in the next two, three years? No."
Continuing, MacAnthony mentioned that when Marsch hit a rough patch of form, he would immediately face criticism and comparison due to the fact that he was following a club legend in Bielsa. He likened this to a 'shadow' hanging over the American.
"The shadow of Bielsa [will hang over Marsch]. You know, Bielsa got a lot of time with a lot of bad results. I’m not sure if the roles are reversed and this guy [Marsch] gets the same results; six, seven games losing 5-0 and 6-0 and whatever that he’d get the same grace period.
"The style as well. It’s going to take some time to see what his style is all about. I know he had a good upbringing at Red Bull. Let’s see. Always with any manager I want them to do well. Leeds fans are going to be ok. They’re going to stay up!"
