Jesse Marsch could replicate Ange Postecoglou's Celtic approach at Leeds United

Former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie believes Jesse Marsch could replicate Ange Postecoglou's recruitment drive with Celtic after the arrival of Brenden Aaronson. Leeds United announced the signing of the RB Salzburg midfielder last week as they look to invest into the squad this summer.

The Whites have been long term admirers of the United States international and Marsch has worked with 21-year-old during his time in Austria. Aaronson's arrival will add some much needed depth to a side that struggled in the Premier League last season.

Kalvin Phillips managed just 20 appearances last year and is being linked with a move away from Elland Road, while Stuart Dallas is expected to miss the majority of the season. "This guy has come in early, maybe they were waiting to see if Leeds would stay up," McAvennie told Football Insider.

"Jesse Marsch knows this boy, it’s a bit like Ange Postecoglou coming in at Celtic. He signed all these players no one had heard of but had played for him before.

"They did a great job because he knew them and I have no doubt Jesse Marsch knows this boy inside and out. He knows his attitude and exactly what he is going to get from this player.

"He will get the best out of Aaronson and he could go to that next level when he has the backing of a manager like that."
