Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has claimed young forward Sam Greenwood has been the member of the squad adapting best to his methods. The emergence of Joe Gelhardt this season has somewhat taken the spotlight away from Greenwood, although the England youth international has never strayed too far from the first-team picture.
He was handed just one Premier League outing under Marcelo Bielsa but has already featured twice under Marsch and the reason for his newfound prominence in the squad has been made clear by the American. Speaking after the 3-0 win over Watford, Marsch said: "First of all, Sam's been really good since we've been here and I said to him two days ago that if I look at the entire player pool, he's the one that's adapting the best and understanding what we want the game to be like.
It is the norm for the Whites to have young prospects on the bench as their recruitment policy since the arrival of Victor Orta as director of football has catered for the future as well as the present. Although the likes of Nohan Kenneh and Kris Moore are awaiting their debuts despite having sat on the bench, there is a group now firmly in the first-team plans and Marsch has admitted he needs to find way to include them more often.

He said: "I think he showed that today and he also has quality. He has the ability to make some final plays, he's very technical, so we've got to find ways to include him more, so I've got to find ways to include Joffy [Joe Gelhardt] more, I've got to find ways to include Summerville, Cree [Crysencio] more, so all three of those guys for me are going to be big players here and are important for us moving forward."
Greenwood's latest appearance came in the win over Watford when he was introduced as a 67th-minute replacement for Daniel James. His introduction lifted the Whites and he provided the assist for Jack Harrison's late strike, an apt reward for a bright cameo.
