Jesse Lingard is in the process of leaving his £3million mansion after becoming the latest Manchester United star to fall victim to an “away day” burglary.
The Sun report that the England international was targeted during United’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on January 15.
Lingard was a late sub for the Red Devils, coming on for the final two minutes of the rollercoaster clash in the west Midlands.
However, while the match was ongoing, it is claimed that thieves entered his home and stole more than £100,000 worth of clothes and jewellery from his home in Greater Manchester.
It is claimed that the gang escaped with the goods before security was alerted.
Lingard is believed to have placed his property on the market in the aftermath of the incident and has already accepted an offer to sell.
During lockdown in 2020, Lingard offered fans a glimpse into his home as part of the MTV show Cribs, showing his swimming pool, home cinema and England caps proudly on display.
A source told the Sun that he was “really upset to have been targeted” and while the items stolen are replaceable “it’s very invasive to have someone break into his home, especially as he is a father” to a young daughter.
United are understood to be reviewing players’ current security arrangements and offering additional support following a worrying trend of break-ins.
Back in January, Lingard’s team-mate Victor Lindelof was victim to a similar crime, with his wife and two children forced to lock themselves away in a terrifying ordeal.
This incident occurred during United’s win over Brentford, with his wife Maja and their two children, Ted Louie and Francis in the home at the time.
Thankfully, all were unharmed, but Maja has since opened up on the distressing moment intruders made their way into the house.
"I do not remember how, but I ran up and got all three of us into a room," she explained to Elle.
"Physically, I do not know how I managed to lift a heavy sleeping Ted Louie while I carried a fragile Francis in my arms but it worked.
"I got both the children and myself into a room, I locked the door and held up the handle. I remember the feeling of being hunted.
"After what felt like an eternity, we were given the go-ahead to leave the room and we were met by so many police officers, guards and the team from United.
"When I stepped out with the children on my hips and saw the three policemen standing outside the room, I just totally broke down. I was shaking all over and I could not control my emotions at all.”
Mirror Football have contacted Greater Manchester Police and Jesse Lingard for comment.
