Jesse Lingard's brother posts scathing Manchester United message after no Old Trafford farewell

Jesse Lingard's brother on Monday hit out at Manchester United after the midfielder was left on the bench for what is expected to be his final Old Trafford game.

Lingard has decided not to extend his contract, which will expire at the end of the season, after again failing to earn a regular first-team spot. West Ham were keen to sign the midfielder last season after a fine loan spell, but then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer vetoed a transfer away only to then not afford him a league start before he was sacked.

Lingard's woes continued under interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who ruled out a January exit for the 29-year-old amid interest from Newcastle. Lingard has made 11 appearances for Rangnick of which just two have been starts.

On Monday evening against Brentford, Edinson Cavani, Phil Jones and Fred were summoned from the bench as Lingard was again an unused substitute. The striker and defender are also expected to depart the club this summer.

Lingard's brother Louie Scott posted on Instagram soon after the game a scathing takedown of the club, poking fun at the club's recent struggles. He wrote on his private Instagram story: "20 years of blood sweat and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goal, not even a farewell. No wonder it's Conference League next year.

"Attacking players for celebrations when the clubs being sold to the super league ok. Class of 92, Busby Babes, you're ran by people who don't even know the offside trap. Classless and the fans need to realise. Goodnight, godbless!

"Been there since nine years of age and didn't even get a send off!!! Well done bro your family are proud."
