Jesse Lingard criticised for being 'Mr Instagram' as Manchester United exit urged

Former Manchester United full-back Paul Parker has told Jesse Lingard he needs to stop taking pictures and being "Mr. Instagram" as he faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old will be a free agent in the summer and has struggled to feature regularly for the Reds this term, prompting interest from Newcastle United and West Ham.

The Magpies have lodged a loan move for the playmaker whilst Stuart Pearce confirmed that the Hammers were open to taking him back for the remainder of the season - a year after his successful stint in east London.

Lingard has made nine appearances, all off the bench, for United term but the 57-year-old says the academy graduate has to go and prove himself.

"I think Jesse Lingard needs to go. He's nearly 30, if he's not already," Parker told MyBettingSites.

"You can't just be one of the names at Manchester United and be 'Mr. Instagram' around all these big names at a big club.

"He's got to go out and prove that he wants to play football and he doesn't need Manchester United around him.

"He needs to stop taking pictures and start becoming a footballer.

"If it means going to Newcastle, they can demand even more from him cause he comes from Manchester United, good for him. They're gonna demand more from him because it seems that he wants to be Mr. Social Media and he's gonna have to demand more from himself."
