Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is very cognizant that free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. still has a great deal of skill and talent left in the tank.
That’s why Dallas has been on the shortlist of NFL teams pursuing the services of OBJ following the conclusion of the 2022 season. Beckham Jr. has not played since tearing his ACL with the Rams early in their Super Bowl victory against the Bengals last February.
The three-time Pro Bowler has been away for 13 months recovering from the injury. However, when reports surfaced that OBJ was holding a workout on Friday in Arizona, Jones was not caught up on ensuring that the franchise was represented at the session.
Instead, Jones focused on learning more about the 30-year-old receiver through his mother, Heather Van Norman.
“I did have a very impressive conversation with the most important one in this whole proposition, that’s his mother,” Jones told Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It was really easy for me to see where Odell [Beckham] got a lot of his pluses. She was very impressive. You can see where he gets a lot of the things he has.”
In 2021, Beckham tallied 44 receptions for 537 yards and five touchdowns through 14 games with the Browns and the Rams. Cleveland released Beckham halfway through the '21 season, leading him to sign with Los Angeles.
