Jermaine Beckford makes admission on Leeds United's disciplinary issues after Dan James red card

Jermaine Beckford has aired his own concerns regarding Leeds United's recent disciplinary record, following Daniel James' dismissal against Chelsea. This is the second time a Whites player has been shown a straight red card in as many games, as Luke Ayling will also miss the remainder of the season following his tackle on Gabriel Martinelli just last weekend.

Jesse Marsch's side are still bidding to stave off relegation to the Championship this season, with just two games now remaining. With Brighton and Brentford still yet to come for Leeds before the 21/22 campaign, draws to a close, Beckford has passed his own judgement on what needs to be done to fix the current disciplinary issues at the club.

"I briefly touched on it, its passion being shown in the wrong way," began the former Whites forward, as he spoke to Sky Sports following the game.

"Everything that's happened in the last few games, the Man City game, the Arsenal game, obviously tonight as well when we see Leeds United go behind. The frustration comes out and players are trying to get in front of opposition players and they are trying to show the manager that they are in here for the long haul.

"They are trying to show that 'look I'm in here to do exactly as you want and I'm working as hard as I can, I'm doing it for the team and for the fans', it's just a split second a blink of an eye, it comes out in the wrong way.

"It is something that needs addressing, ever so slightly, but it is difficult because there is a thin line between showing passion in the right way and getting it wrong.

"Today that was definitely wrong, it was wrong way, but there is an element of that physicality of the game that I don't want to see lost. It just has to be done in a sensible manner."

Leeds host Brighton on Sunday before a trip to Brentford on the final day of the season, with James and Ayling suspended, while the likes of Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts are all currently out injured.
