Jermain Defoe's fiancée Donna Tierney has reacted to delight to him putting pen to paper on a move back to Sunderland AFC.
After weeks of speculation, Jermain arrived at the Black Cats' Academy of Light training ground late on Monday night to seal his return to the club he still holds close to his heart.
Sunderland fans who stayed up until the wee small hours for his signing to be confirmed were rewarded just after 1am when the club posted a video and a picture of Jermain back in the famous red and white stripes on their social media channels.

Posting on his own Instagram account, Jermain, 39, who left Rangers last month, uploaded a photo of him in the SAFC strip, with his back to camera, proudly showing off the number 10 on the back of the kit.
And, referring to a vow he made when he left the club in 2017, that he would return one day, he captioned the shot: "Told you I'd be back."
Jermain's emotional return to Sunderland has been met with widespread excitement from fans and his other half, Scottish beauty entrepreneur Donna, CEO of Marinical skin care, is also clearly thrilled.
Reacting to her other half's big move on her Instagram story, she wrote: "Proud wifey. You deserve to finish this part of your career doing what you love 'scoring goals' and what better than to do this at Sunderland."
Jermain and Donna have been engaged since last summer after he popped the question with a stunning diamond ring.
Jermain gushed about her in an Instagram post before Christmas.
In a montage featuring a picture of the couple at Edinburgh's famous Dome, as well as Jermain playing for Rangers, he wrote: "What a year it’s been some unforgettable moments, getting engaged, winning the league. I Just want to say Happy New Year to everyone and God Bless."
