Jeremy Renner admits he's 'missing my happy place' as he recovers from horror accident

Jeremy Renner took to Instagram Story on Monday to reveal he's "missing my happy place".

The image, shared with his 19.7million followers, showed a number of chalets in an abundance of snow. The picturesque snap was complete with snowy trees as the properties peeked above the huge mound of snow.

It's the actor's latest update since a horror accident left him fighting for his life. But the incident, which saw his snow plough crush him, doesn't seem to have turned him off the coldness.

However, he did follow up his post with a similar picture of the snow laden road alongside the caption: "It's a rough ride over the pass. Be safe out there Reno/Tahoe."

The 52-year-old is reported to have lost a serious amount of blood in the accident, which happened as the Hawkeye star had been ploughing the road close to his family property near the Mt Rose-Ski Tahoe resort near Lake Tahoe, which is approximately 25 miles from Reno, Nevada.

He was airlifted to hospital after suffering "blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries", according to his publicist.

It's said he suffered the horrendous injuries after a Snow Cat ploughing machine reportedly failed and sent it rolling over one of his legs.

He required surgery following the incident and remained in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Almost two weeks after the incident, his family admitted they were "thrilled" with how his recovery was progressing.

Speaking to PEOPLE last week, his sister Kym Renner said: "We are so thrilled with his progress. If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn't mess around. He is crushing all the progress goals. We couldn't feel more positive about the road ahead."

It followed his own personal update in which he shared a selfie from his hospital bed looking weary and with oxygen tubes in his nose.

He wrote: "Thank you all for your kind words. I'm too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all."

The Mayor of Kingstown star than posted a video on his Twitter account showing off his "amazing spa day" in ICU with his sister and mum. In the video, his sister is seen giving him a head massage as he described having his first shower since the accident happened, calling it "gross".
