Jeremy Clarkson's daughter condemns his 'misogynistic' rant about Meghan Markle

JEREMY Clarkson's daughter Emily has condemned her father's "misogyny" after he compared Nicola Sturgeon to the serial killer Rose West in a newspaper column which told of his "hatred" for Meghan Markle.

The former Top Gear presenter has been widely criticised after his column in The Sun revealed his deep dislike of the American actress and wife of Prince Harry.

He said that he hated her "not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level."

Clarkson added that he was unable to sleep at night because he lay there "dreaming of the day" when Markle would be paraded naked through the streets of Britain while people threw faeces at her.

Now, his daughter Emily - the eldest child of Clarkson and his ex-wife Frances - has criticised her father's views and expressed support for those "targeted by online hatred".

In a statement posted on Instagram, she said: "My views are and have always been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the treatment of women by the media.

"I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those targeted with online hatred."

It comes just days after Emily Clarkson condemned the reporting about Harry and Meghan by The Daily Mail, writing in an Instagram post that it was "inhumane" how many media outlets had treated the couple.

Alongside a graphic which highlighted the sheer number of articles about Harry and Meghan published on The Daily Mail website, she wrote: "This publication, and many like it, are hellbent on DESTROYING this woman.

"My steadfast defence of them has never been of the individuals I don't know, rather of two people who have, objectively, been treated APPALLINGLY.

"And I genuinely feel concern for anyone who can look at how she particularly has been written/joked/spoken about and feel that it's justified. It's bullying on a mass scale and it drove a new mother to want to end her life.

"There's a bunch of stuff people are choosing to debate, from Meghan's experience of racism at the hands of the press (not for anyone to deny IMO), to whether or not they should be doing and saying various things- I don't know them or enough about the royals to have answers on that.

"I'm not a super fan blind to every critique of them, all I do know is that whilst I'm watching this, I feel a DEEP discomfort with our lack of humanity towards these two people."
