Jeremy Clarkson 'got the kicking he deserved' for Meghan comments, says Bill Bailey

Bill Bailey has said that Jeremy Clarkson got the "kicking he deserved" after making vile comments about Meghan Markle.

The comedian called Clarkson's vulgar slurry of words "misguided" and "ill-conceived", after likening it to something you might say to pals over a pint.

The amateur farmer sparked outrage after he said that he hated Meghan on a "cellular level", and that he preferred the likes of serial child killer Rose West.

In his column for The Sun, Clarkson said that he "dreams of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her."

He also brazenly added that "everyone my age agrees" with his thoughts on the Duchess.

"You might [make a comment like Clarkson's] in the pub as a clumsy, oafish sort of laugh," Bill said in response to Jeremy's controversial comments.

"But you put it in print and not only does it take on another life but it gives gravitas to something that should never have had it," he told The Telegraph.

"You think, 'Come on, you've got to be more savvy than that, surely you can see how that's going to pan out', it was misguided and ill-conceived and he got the kicking he deserved," he added.

Trying to defend himself after he was met with furious backlash, he claimed he was making a "clumsy reference" to a scene from Game Of Thrones.

He recognised that it "went down badly" and the publication has since taken the article down and said that it is "sincerely sorry".

The former Top Gear presenter was heavily criticised by fellow celebrities, with Carol Vorderman saying that it was "unacceptable" to speak about any woman in the way he did Meghan.

His own daughter even took to Instagram to share her thoughts on what her dad had said.

"My views are and have always been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the treatment of women by the media.

“I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those that are targeted with online hatred," she wrote.
