Jeremie Frimpong is Manchester United transfer 'target' as former Celtic star catches Erik Ten Hag's eye

Jermie Frimpong is said to be a transfer target for Manchester United this winter, which will mark two years since his Celtic exit.

The right-back left the Hoops in January 2021 for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and his performances have been impressive for the Bundesliga club. Formerly of Manchester City, they snapped him up for excess of £10m and came up against his ex-club last season when Frimpong's new teammates at the time met with Celtic on Europa League duty.

It's now reported by Sky Sports that Red Devils boss Erik Ten Hag has the 21-year-old on his radar as they seek 'high quality right-back in winter' or summer 2023 at the latest. Currently, that position is being filled by Diego Dalot but Manchester United want an upgrade and Celtic's former full-back could be that man. Frimpong signed a four-year deal with Neil Lennon's side in 2019 after time in the City academy.

Frimpong won every major trophy Scotland had to offer in his 18 months in Glasgow and is now a regular for one of Germany's big guns.
