Jennifer Aniston 'heartbroken' following sudden death of much-loved colleague

Jennifer Aniston expressed her sorrow on Instagram on Thursday following the sudden death of one of her The Morning Show colleagues.

The actress paid tribute to late camera assistant Gunnar Mortensen before revealing a GoFundMe page had been established to raise money for his family.

In a heartfelt Story post, the Friends legend wrote: "This past week we suddenly and tragically lost Gunnar Mortensen. One of our bright lights on the @themorningshow set.

"As camera assistant, he was so skilled and dedicated to his job. In memory of Gunnar a page has been set up to help raise funds for his wife, Keely, and his 2-year-old son Lars during this difficult time.

Jennifer revealed the sad news on her Instagram Story (Instagram)

"We are going to miss you, Gunnar."

It's been quite an emotional week for Jennifer, reports Hello! magazine.

The 53-year old was invited to appear via video-link at the 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards to deliver an honour to her 88-year old father - actor John Aniston.

Born Yannis Anastassakis, John picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 37-year portrayal of Victor Kiriakis in NBC daytime drama Days of Our Lives.

"This is truly a special moment for me," Jennifer declared.

"It's an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it's also a chance to recognise the lifelong achievements of a great and well-respected actor, who also happens to be my Dad."

She continued: "For over 30 years, his dedication to that show has gained him respect and admiration of his fellow actors, deep friendships, and thrilled millions of fans around the world. His career is literally the definition of lifetime achievement."

Jen sparked a backlash last month, meanwhile, after speaking about how stars find fame through the internet today, claiming it is "diluting the actor's job," and saying star are famous for "basically doing nothing", such as Paris Hilton.

She was accused of being a "nepotism" baby and gatekeeping Hollywood, after she made the remarks during a chat with fellow actor and Captain America star Sebastian Stan.

Her mother too was an actress - the late Nancy Dow, who passed away in 2016.
