A jealous man hid a tracking device on his former partner's car so he could monitor her movements at all times. The spying on her whereabouts was part of Christopher Trotman's "controlling" behaviour which included constant phone calls asking what she was doing and offering to pay her money so she would give up her bar job and not come into contact with other men.
When he was tracked down to a pub car park using the self-same device he admitted fitting it to his ex's car saying he still loved her. Swansea Crown Court heard the defendant's obsessive behaviour has left his former partner feeling anxious and concerned about what he might do next.
Tom Scapens, prosecuting, said Trotman and the complainant had been in a relationship for more than a decade until it ended in August 2020 with the woman describing his "controlling" behaviour during their time together. The court heard that following end of the relationship Trotman would constantly call the woman wanting to know where she was and what she was doing and he also offered to pay the her money to give up her job in a pub as he couldn't cope with her talking to other men.
