Jealous Lanarkshire man harassed former partner

A jealous man who admitted keeping tabs on his former partner has avoided jail.

Brian Henderson - also known as Brian Shaker - hounded the woman between September 2019 and October 2021.

The 52-year-old committed the crimes across various locations in Rutherglen and East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire as well as Glasgow.

This includes a primary school in Rutherglen, where the woman worked as a teacher, as well as China Sea restaurant in Glasgow's city centre.

Court papers state Henderson, of Rutherglen, engaged in a course of conduct which was the abuse of his ex.

Henderson pled guilty to the single charge at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Diana McConnell ordered Henderson to do 280 hours of unpaid work and put him under supervision for two years.

The charge states Henderson threw the contents of a glass on the woman's body as well as attended at her place of work, requesting to see her.

He later pursued her with his vehicle and put a hand through the open window of her car, entered it and sat down.

Henderson also attended her home while uninvited and prevented her from closing the door.

Henderson damaged the woman's car tyres by unknown means as well as making unwanted texts, telephone and video calls.

He refused to desist from contacting her when requested and caused damage to her garden by unknown means.

Henderson also sent flowers to her home and work address as well as act in an aggressive manner and demand to know her whereabouts.

Lastly, Henderson accused his ex of having relationships with other men.

A three-year non-harassment order was also granted at the sentencing, restricting Henderson's contact with the victim.
