Kuwait's major carrier Jazeera Airways, has announced numerous new plans in the past few days in an attempt to strengthen its connectivity to regional and international locations while also ensuring passenger convenience.
The airline has resumed its flights to Jeddah in order to tighten links between Kuwait and one of Saudi Arabia's key commercial and religious gateways, supporting passenger flows, including travel and mobility.
“Restarting flights to Jeddah marks another important step in sustaining connectivity between Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially now when it’s really crucial,” said Group CEO Barathan Pasupathi.
Amping up Saudi routes
The airline has amped up its operations through its dual bases in Saudi Arabia, including Dammam and Qaisumah. While Jeddah forms a vital destination for passenger travel and cargo movement, the airline's new travel model combining air and overland transport via Saudi territory will now offer passengers more connectivity to and from Kuwait. This will help ensure cargo flows and supply chain continuity.
Moreover, with the addition of Jeddah, the airline's network operated through the Kingdom has expanded to over 20 destinations. With more than 1,000 flights, 200,000 seats and significant cargo capacity it has become a more profitable choice for passengers.
Jazeera Airways now flies to Karachi
The Kuwaiti carrier has also launched flights to Karachi, Pakistan's largest city and a major economic hub. The addition of the location marks its third destination in the South Asian country after Lahore and Islamabad. The airline has begun service to Karachi and resumed its existing routes in the other two locations, restoring its full Pakistan network operation.
“Adding Karachi completes the restoration of our Pakistan network at a time when connectivity carries even greater importance,” said Pasupathi.
The top official noted that the airline's focus is to keep Kuwait connected to the larger international route, especially in the current environment of regional and geopolitical tensions. It aims to support the movement of people and essential goods and ensure that communities remain linked. Recently, the airline flew in 4.5 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables from India's Chennai to Kuwait using a combined air and land route through Saudi Arabia. The operation aimed to maintain access to perishable goods that depend on speed and reliability and also ensure stability in the market rates.
