By now, NBA fans are intimately familiar with the close relationship that Jayson Tatum had with Kobe Bryant. Tatum has never been shy in sharing how important the late Bryant was to him. He’s called him his “idol” and his “inspiration” when he was a young man.
As Tatum pushes for his first career title during the NBA Finals, he’s honored honoring Kobe in some subtle ways. When the Celtics beat the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, Tatum had a purple armband that simply had “24” stitched on it.
In advance of Sunday’s Game 2 against the Warriors (four-point favorites), Tatum threw out another subtle gesture for anyone paying attention after practice: He dressed precisely like Bryant when he worked out for the Celtics before the 1996 NBA Draft.

Now that is a cool throwback. Who knows how else Tatum will show love for his hero as the rest of the series ensues. But one thing’s for sure: He certainly won’t lack creativity.
