Jaylen Brown lands on Forbes Magazine’s first 30 Under 30 for the Boston area

For over a decade now, Forbes Magazine has printed an annual list of thirty young adults making a difference in the world. This “30 Under 30” has grown to become a yearly benchmark for the country’s most influential up-and-comers. In 2023, the magazine created its first-ever list specifically for the Greater Boston area. That’s where Boston Celtics superstar forward Jaylen Brown comes in.

Forbes selected the 26-year-old Brown for its “30 Under 30 Local Boston Class,” a nod to all the work and advocacy in the community the All-NBA forward has done since being drafted by the Celtics in 2016.

As the founder of the 7uice Foundation, Brown has sought to elevate minoritized groups in the city of Boston.

He’s partnered with the Museum of Fine Arts, Harvard University, and is a fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab where he recently hosted a summer camp for Black and brown area teenagers.

Brown is a worthy candidate for the list, and based on what we have seen from him so far, he’s just getting started. Upon signing a record five-year, $304 million extension this July, Brown told reporters he plans to use his new wealth to invest in the Black community in Boston.

“I want to attack that wealth gap here in Boston,” Brown said. “I’m going to help stimulate the overall economy. And I want to bring Black Wall Street here to Boston.”

Landing on the local “30 Under 30” is another feather in Brown’s cap, and adds to an impressive summer for the Georgia native. Expect more big things from Brown in the years to come.
