Jason Kelce Chugged Beer in Two Gulps After the Eagles Made Their First-Round Pick

It’s safe to say that Jason Kelce was thrilled about the Eagles’ selection of Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter at No. 9 in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night.

Moments after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the Georgia standout as Philadelphia’s selection, the six-time Pro Bowler chugged a cup of beer in two gulps in celebration of Carter joining the franchise.

Carter was considered one of the best players in the 2023 draft class. However, his off-the-field troubles and pre-draft process led to a brief slide. On March 1, Carter was arrested and charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and racing in connection to a Jan. 15 crash that led to the deaths of Georgia teammate Devin Willock and team staffer Chandler LeCroy.

The defensive tackle attended the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. However, after the Athens-Clarke County Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest, he returned to Georgia and turned himself in the same day.

Carter played in 13 games for the Bulldogs last season, recording 32 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles. Now, the 314-pound lineman gets a chance to make an impact with the Eagles, who traded with the Bears to move up one spot to select Carter.
