Max Verstappen is back in form and back on pole position after a tense qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix.

The reigning champion’s unbeaten season last week ended in Singapore after 10 straight wins, with Carlos Sainz triumphing after his Red Bull rival struggled in qualifying.
