Janey Godley has revealed that she underwent treatment for cancer in the run up to Christmas.

The Scottish comedian has battled ovarian cancer for the past year, with the disease returning after she got the all-clear in June.

The 61-year-old tweeted to her 280,000 followers: "Someone is playing “White Christmas” on the chemo ward and now I am sitting here crying.

Messages of support from followers soon flooded her comment section, including from fellow stand-up Rory Bremner added: "Sending you love & strength. You’re amazing Janey."

The celebrated comedian’s spirits were seemingly lifted by the messages, retweeting several.

She later shared a snap of herself from the hospital in a mask and posing beside a Christmas tree, writing: "Chemo done I am off home for Christmas."

Godly, received her diagnosis of stage three ovarian cancer in November 2021 and has since undergone chemotherapy treatment and a full hysterectomy.
