Comedian Janey Godley has compassionately responded to a troll implying she is lying about her cancer battle.
The cruel critic accused the Scottish star of 'milking every second' of her ill health in a bid to boost her career, before going on to claim Janey - who has ovarian cancer - 'looks the picture of health' in recent pictures.
Janey responded to the taunts by wishing her troll well, despite them claiming she is lying about having cancer, and sharing her hope they never have to live with the disease themselves.
The accusations came about thanks to Janey recently supporting transgender people, in addition to drag queens' right to perform in America - something that irked some Twitter users.
As one critic shared a post from Janey's Facebook page on Tuesday - claiming she was 'stirring the pot - a Twitter user calling themselves David replied: "She was rightfully cancelled. Her career was over. The one and only reason she is back on a public stage is because she has cancer, and by God she has milked every second of it, to get her career back."
David then replied to a now-deleted tweet from another user in the thread, writing: "Who says it's life threatening? Going by the clips and pics I've seen. She looks the picture of health. Open your eyes."
Janey quote-tweeted David's heartless tweet and, in view of her 288,400 followers, told him: "David, I’m sorry your hatred for SNP has stretched to saying I am lying about having cancer - I wish you a really good day my friend - am off to get chemo today and hope you never live with this disease."
Fans quickly rallied round Janey following her tweet, with one telling the star: "You're doing an amazing job Janey, i know 1st hand dealing with Cancer Treatment, as well as long term effects....Well done you, an inspiration to many, to not self pity, but get on with enjoying life."
Another added: "David's one of those you see shouting at people with blue badges. Unless you're crawling, you're not ill in their view. Instead of commending you on your strength they attack it."
Janey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2021, and has since undergone chemotherapy treatment and a hysterectomy procedure.
The comedian was told she was cancer free in June last year but by the end of the same year shared how recent test results have shown remaining signs of the disease.
Janey took to social media on December 13 to deliver the news to her loyal fans and followers, and reassured them she will still be performing her upcoming Not Dead Yet Tour dates across the UK.
In the video posted on Twitter, Janey said: "My recent scan and my blood tests showed that my cancer marker went up.
"There’s still a bit of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy.
She added: "I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage.
"I’m looking forward to the tour, I think it’s fair and honest to say it might be the last time you see me live on stage. I’m hoping it’s not, but I think it’s a fair estimation that will be what we're looking at."
Janey went on to discuss her plans for a "fabulous tour" and explained how while the news her cancer is back isn't "want everyone wanted to hear", her cancer is being treated.
"I'm not going to sing My Way - it's not going to be that type of tour," Janey joked in her video update. "There's going to be a lot of fun - it's going to be my dream come true to get back on stage in February and March."
