Janey Godley feels 'positive' despite being kept in hospital for blood transfusion

Scottish comedian Janey Godley has issued a recent update on her health journey as she has been kept in hospital for a blood transfusion.

Janey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the end of last year and has been regularly sharing updates on social media regarding her condition.

Recently, she thanked those, mainly on Twitter, for their continued support and kind messages, saying that she never realised how kind some people can be on the platform.

The Record reports that in the most recent update, Janey shared a video discussing her latest hospital appointment, saying that she went to an appointment to receive results from her post-chemo scan, but instead found herself back in a hospital bed.

Doctors said that her haemoglobin count was low and that she would have to stay and get a top up of blood.

Janey also said that she is yet to receive the results of her chemotherapy treatment that she initially went in for, although she is feeling relatively positive.

She said: "I came into hospital yesterday to discuss my blood tests and my scan that I had after my six rounds of chemo, well the scan results aren't through yet but I think there's a back log from Covid so I didn't get the results of that which I had spent weeks worrying about thinking they're going to find something else, they're going to find another cancer, they're going to find a big lump, they're going to find an owl tucked somewhere inside my colon.

"But she said she didn't have the results of my scan but your CA125 number is low so that's positive, but what they did find in my bloods though was that my haemoglobin was really low which explains the extreme exhaustion and the mild fainting attack that I had in the car park, so they kept me in and gave me loads of blood.

She added: "Thank you to every blood donor everywhere who gives blood. Thank you so so much for doing that, I really appreciate it. Hopefully I will be home today once they check my haemoglobin."

Fans on social media were quick to send in their kind messages after hearing Janey's update.

One wrote: "Sending you lots of love! Glad your feeling perky!"

Another added: "Thank you Janey re cheery update! You're looking quite a bit better! Everything's crossed for your results Wee Honey's been looking after her mammy well, eh!"

While one said: " So happy that you’re feeling brighter today. Great news that the CA125 result is lower. Sending love, warmth and best wishes."

Janey has previously said that she is "worrying endlessly" as she waits for the results.

Despite undergoing a hysterectomy at the start of the year, Janey had to have six rounds of chemo as the cancer had progressed to stage 3b.

After being diagnosed, Janey teamed up with the Beatson Cancer Charity and together they have managed to raise £42,000.

Comedians including her daughter Ashley Storrie performed at the Soup Pot Tours at Glasgow's Kings Theatre on March 18 and 19 after she was forced to pull out because of her declining health.

Tickets alone raised £39,037.58, a collection raised an extra £2,693.95 and merchandise share raised £1,211.85.
