The Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have chalked out a road map to enter the election fray in 2024. The JSP-TDP combine will take their common manifesto to the public through a door-to-door campaign. The parties would also continue their yatras and programmes which they have already announced, and also conduct joint programmes.
The JSP chief Pawan Kalyan, party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) chairman Nadendla Manohar, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh, TDP Andhra Pradesh president K. Atchnanidu, politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and others met for the purpose at Rajamahendravaram on October 23.
Disclosing the details, Mr. Kalyan said they discussed strategies to dethrone the YSRCP government. The JSP-TDP would strive for the future and safety of Andhra Pradesh, apart from focussing on welfare to development for the year of forming the government. The common manifesto contains promises and plans of both the parties. The TDP would continue its yatras, and the JSP would go ahead with its programmes. This apart, joint programmes would also be organised as the elections were slated to be conducted in less than 150 days, he said, adding, “We hope that the BJP high command would understand that JSP’s priority is the future of Andhra Pradesh.”
The JSP-TDP combine was the correct vaccine to end the misrule by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in the State. The JSP-TDP would give a ray of hope to the people of Andhra Pradesh, who were suffering under the YSRCP government, Mr. Kalyan said.
In the same breath, Mr. Pawan Kalyan asserted that he has no personal animosity with the YSRCP president and Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. “But, I strongly oppose the government policies, corruption, physical attacks, false cases, intimidation, etc. The JSP was against going back on the promises made to the people during the elections, which YSRCP did. Mr. Jagan promised a total prohibition. Leave alone prohibition, illicit liquor was being sold openly at every nook and corner,” he said.
TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh said that they will launch a 100-day plan to gear up the cadres of both parties for the elections, and a joint action plan would be implemented from October 29. As part of it, meetings with leaders and cadres of both parties would be conducted on October 29, 30 and 31.
“A common manifesto would be prepared, and a door-to-door publicity campaign would be taken up from November 1. The voters list would be out on October 27, and workers of both parties would knock every door to cross check the voters list. The discrepancies, if any, would be brought to the notice of the Election Commission,” he said.
