Jamshedpur: Tata’s sports academy ties up with private company to nurture talent

JAMSHEDPUR: The Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) Sports Climbing Academy (SCA) has joined hands with Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company Private Limited (JCAPCPL) for development of sport climbing. The two organisations have come together to nurture the budding athletes of the academy, develop grass-roots centres, foreign exposure, and installation of modular climbing walls at feeder centres. The JCAPCPL is a joint venture of Tata Steel, Nippon Steel, and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC).

TSAF chairman-cum-Tata Steel VP (Corporate Services) Chanakya Chaudhary said, “The TSAF, a not-for-profit trust, will continue working with partners to make resources available to the deserving athletes and take sport climbing to greater heights.”

The TSAF SCA, which is home to 11 national athletes at present, is stitching together state-of-the-art facilities and sport science to develop elite athletes across India to chase the country’s Olympic dream. TSAF focuses on expanding the reach of grassroot development, scouting the talent pool to build the strong pipeline. The best performing children at the existing centers in Pipla, Dimna, Rajnagar, Pursudih, Bagunhathu and Tinplate will be trained at the academy.
