Jamie Lynn Spears admitted to being "petty," after trying to "embarrass" her eldest daughter over a fashion disagreement on the teenager's homecoming weekend.
The younger sister of pop star Britney, 31, took to Instagram yesterday to mark daughter Maddie Aldridge, 14, special day after announcing that she had started high school last month.
The mother-of-two said she had driven seven hours to "surprise" Maddie - whom she shares with her ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge - as she was getting ready for the event.
She documented the occasion by sharing photos, alongside which Jamie teased that she had tried to "embarrass" Maddie after they had a disagreement about her footwear.
Alongside a photo of herself, Jamie wrote on her Instagram Story: "So, I really wanted Maddie to wear these fluffy shoes with her [homecoming] dress and she wasn't into it."
"Which is when I decided to embarrass her a bit and wear them while we took their pics, [because] I'm petty," she continued in the post, which was shared yesterday.
She added in a follow-up post of Maddie and a friend: "Of course, she looked beautiful in the shoes she chose. Most importantly she felt good, which is ALL that truly matters."
Jamie - the younger sister of Britney Spears, 40 - said that she changed back to her "normal shoes" for group photos, but she "will be wearing [her] fun new shoes in the future."
Alongside other photos shared on Instagram, she explained that she had travelled to the event with daughter Ivey Watson, four, whom she shares with husband Jamie Watson, 40.
"When ya find out ya have an extra day off work, so ya load up the toddler, drive 7 hours, and get to surprise your oldest for homecoming weekend," she wrote in the post.

Jamie's mother Lynne Spears, 67, was also in attendance for the special occasion, seen wearing a sparkly cream top and red pants in a photo with her granddaughter Maddie.
Lynne wrote in the comments: "Where does the time go? One minute little girl, then next my stunningly beautiful young lady". She also posted heart emojis in a comment.
