Jamie Carragher admits he is unsure over Steven Gerrard's next move.
The former Rangers boss was sacked by Aston Villa last night after a poor start to the season with the 3-0 defeat at newly promoted Fulham the final nail in the coffin. The hierarchy at the Midlands club took immediate action in the aftermath of the defeat and dismissed the former Liverpool and England star from his management role.
Villa also announced a host of staff members brought to the club by Gerrard, including former Ibrox No2 Gary McAllister, will depart following his axing. They sit 17th in the English Premier League table with just nine points from 11 games. Only goal difference is keeping them outside the relegation zone at this early stage of the campaign. Carragher - who starred alongside the former Rangers gaffer at Liverpool - admits he is unsure whether he will take time out or go back into the game and is 'really not sure' if he would drop down to English Championship level. He believes he's picked the jobs that appeal to him and it may be a road he continues to pursue for future opportunities.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Reds hero and pundit said: “I’m really not sure if Stevie would go back in or wait 12 months. I spoke to him a few days ago about the upcoming games and he’s not daft, he knows the situation.
“It will be really interesting. That’s not what I have spoken to him about, whether he wants to be a manager for the next 20 years or he will pick certain jobs that will appeal to him. I think that is what he has done with his jobs that he has picked. Whether Stevie would drop down to the Championship I am really not sure.”
He added: “But when you go into management, you know the price on the ticket – and if results are not right or whether the players are letting you down or not performing, it is the manager that carries the can. That is always the case and that is the brutal part of football management.”
Villa host Brentford at home this weekend before clashes with top end of the table Newcastle and Manchester United. It's then the latter once again in the EFL Cup third round before rounding off with a trip to Brighton before the World Cup break up.
