When Jadon Sancho completed his big-money move to Manchester United last summer, the England international was signed in a bid to solve the club's long-term search for a right-sided winger.
United, who will resume their Premier League campaign on April 2 against Leicester City at Old Trafford, had been tracking Sancho for several years and were determined to get their man. He was identified as their number one target to become their first choice right-winger for the future.
However, it is on the left flank where the 21-year-old has impressed most so far this season. He struggled to nail down a place in the team under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it soon became clear that he was going to need more time to adjust to the demands of the Premier League, following the experience of playing in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund.
