Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has claimed that Chelsea boss Graham Potter shouldn't compare himself to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
Potter has come under increased scrutiny considering his side's recent struggles, with the Blues sitting 10th in the current Premier League standings. The former Brighton head coach defended himself in a recent press conference, comparing himself to the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Arteta.
“You only have to look at some of my colleagues in a similar position: Pep [Guardiola] for example in his first season was criticised quite heavily", Potter said. "Mikel [Arteta] has had to endure a period of criticism.

"Jurgen Klopp would've got some criticism as well and these guys are fantastic." However, Carragher has taken exception to these comments, claiming that there are clear differences between Potter and the likes of Arteta and Klopp.
Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Carragher said: "It is understandable when a coach pleads for time, but attempts to compare Potter’s early work with that of Guardiola at City, Arteta at Arsenal and Klopp at Liverpool are wrong. There are already clear differences.
"City were never in danger of falling away from the top four, and Klopp and Arteta enjoyed big football moments which earned them instant credit. Klopp won away at Chelsea and Manchester City in his first few games by imposing his high-pressing football style, and led Liverpool to the Europa League final seven months after taking charge, beating top teams en route.
"Arteta beat Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, won the FA Cup and then the Community Shield months after his appointment. Despite the inevitable pressure, the signs were there for those analysing closely enough.
"There was never a sense of the Liverpool and Arsenal board having blind faith in Arteta and Klopp. It was a case of rebuilding to ensure consistency followed.
"For any comparison with Klopp and Arteta to be credible – whether applied to Potter or anyone who decides to name drop their early work in England in a future press conference – we must see the same levels against high calibre sides."
Despite Arsenal finishing eighth in Arteta's first two seasons in north London, the Spaniard guided his side to FA Cup victory in 2020 whilst Klopp reached the League Cup and Europa League finals during his first campaign with Liverpool. Potter hasn't had the same kind of results in the cups, with his side knocked out of both the FA and Carabao Cups at the hands of Manchester City.
