James Martin sparks concern after telling fans he's in hospital for an MRI scan

James Martin has worried fans after revealing that he was in hospital for an MRI scan.

The TV chef, 50, joked about "getting old" as he shared a snap from the inside of a hospital.

Alongside a photo of his dog, James wrote: "Seems as if we are both getting old fella! Dropped him off for an op this morning, now it seems I need one."

Followers rushed to show their concern, with one writing: "Hope it’s nothing serious for either of you James."

"Goodness. Hope it’s not too serious for either of you," another added.

"I hope it’s for something like an ingrown toenail or something minor. And, poor Ralphy, I hope he’s ok and his op is something minor too," one wrote.

James didn't share any more details, leaving fans concerned.

His hospital trip comes after he lost three stone after he swapped fizzy drinks for water during the covid pandemic.

Speaking on Loose Women he explained: "I don't drink tea or coffee so fizzy drinks were always sort of my nemesis really and in the kitchen particularly.

"We found that in Covid I wasn't concentrating and getting this massive sugar rush, so I just swapped to water.

"The minute I swapped to water, it was nearly three stone."

Shocked at the revelation, Ruth Langsford exclaimed: "Just like that? With not changing your diet, just the drinks?"

James continued: "Yeah, so the chefs have bottles of water in my section and are like 'make sure he is happy, give him water'.

"But it is amazing, the difference it makes, your brain is sharper, your eyes are better, much more alert!"

James also shared an insight into his personal life.

The Saturday Kitchen host, who often keeps his private life out of the spotlight, said that he struggles with dyslexia.

Despite writing 34 cookery books, James says that he is "severely dyslexic".

Before he realised he had the learning difficulty, he said that he "cried his eyes out" when he found it hard reading the script on This Morning.

"I failed all my exams at school, I've never read a book in my life. I've written 34 books but the way I do it I dictate it," he explained to Hello! magazine.

"A lot of this crew think I'm ignoring them, it’s mainly because I have trouble reading a script."
